Holland Faces Two Strong Challengers for Nomination

As the March 5th primary approaches, the race for the Republican nomination in Texas House District 33 is heating up, with incumbent Justin Holland facing tough competition from Dennis London and Katrina Pierson. The district, which covers all of Rockwall County, is witnessing a contentious battle for the GOP ticket.
Justin Holland, who has represented the district since 2017, is facing criticism for his vote against fellow Republican and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton during the impeachment proceedings. In the previous primary, Holland triumphed over London by a margin of 70% to 26%. However, London, undeterred by the loss, has remained active in state politics. “While I didn’t win last time, I did not give up,” London stated. “I tirelessly worked alongside the State Republican Executive Committee (SREC) and other grassroots organizations to advocate on your behalf.”
London’s platform emphasizes his efforts to remove explicit materials from schools, enhance border security, secure elections, and protect private property rights. He aims to distinguish himself as the candidate who listens to the concerns of the community and acts on their behalf.
Joining the race is Katrina Pierson, a campaign consultant and spokesperson with a robust political background. Pierson served as the national spokesperson for Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign and has worked for the Tea Party Leadership Fund PAC, advocating for Rep. Trey Gowdy in 2015.
Piersons political history includes founding the Garland Texas Tea Party and working as an activist in various states, emphasizing her commitment to grassroots movements.
The battle for the Republican nomination in District 33 is expected to be closely watched, with each candidate presenting a unique perspective and set of experiences.
