Election NOT over. Chinn and Krauss go into run-off. Buegeler is out.

Fate, TX – The fate of Place 1 on the City Council remains uncertain in the City of Fate, TX as the May 4th election results revealed Codi Chinn ended up just shy of the required 50% + 1 vote threshold, over her opponent Cinnamon Krauss. Incumbent Heather Buegeler is now out of the race, having come in third.

Chinn secured 49.81% of the votes, with Krauss trailing far behind at 25.19%. Buegeler, the incumbent, found herself edged out by the newcomer Krauss with just 25% of the votes, a somewhat expected result for the controversial incumbent who voted to approve 1100 new apartments in the city.

The city council has slated a crucial meeting for May 13, 2024, at 6 p.m., where they will canvass the election returns and order the run-off election.

Meanwhile, in Place 5, Conservative candidate Mark Hatley emerged victorious, clinching a resounding win over Democrat Freemason John Hamilton. Hatley garnered 828 votes, leaving Hamilton trailing behind with 599 votes. Adam Jones, the third contender for Place 5, fell short with a mere 113 votes. Place 5 was an open seat with incumbent Jim DeLand withdrawing his candidacy.

The ideological divergence between the remaining contenders in Place 1 adds a layer of intrigue to the impending run-off. Cinnamon Krauss, known as a Democrat Progressive, has garnered attention for her support of Beto O’Rourke during his Senate campaign against Ted Cruz in 2018. On the other hand, Codi Chinn, a Conservative Republican, has carved a unique path by securing endorsements from both Democrats and Republicans, showcasing a rare bipartisan appeal.

*The agenda for the City Council Meeting on Monday, May 13, 2024 shows that the runoff election will be held Saturday, June 15, 2024, with Early Voting beginning June 3, 2024 and ending June 11, 2024. Fate City Hall is the only polling location.

The City of Fate will bear the entire cost of this run-off election, which is estimated to be approximately $17,000.
